Private Pay

The most common form of payment. Families pay out of pocket using savings, income, or family contributions. Offers the most flexibility in choosing services.

Medicaid

A state and federally funded program for low-income individuals. May cover long-term home care services depending on state eligibility and waiver programs.

Waivers

Medicaid waiver programs can provide additional support for home care services that are not typically covered under standard Medicaid; availability varies by state.

Long-Term Care Insurance

VA Aid & Attendance Benefit

Professional home health care services include a broad range of care and support services for those who are recovering from a hospital stay, who are disabled, chronically or terminally ill, and need medical, nursing, social, or therapeutic treatment, including assistance with the essential activities of daily living.

What are the rates for your home health care services?

Friends of the Family rates will vary on the level of care, services required, duration of services, and your location. The cost for home health care services begins at $25/hour.

Is someone available at all times in case I have an emergency?

Yes, a member of our elder care management team will always be available 24/7 to address your concerns.

If I am a Veteran or a spouse of a Veteran, do I qualify for assistance for Private Duty care?

Yes, you do and we will assist all eligible veterans with the qualifying process for financial assistance to provide in-home health care services.

How do I pay for Private Duty Care?

There are many options available, including Private Funding, Long-Term Care Insurance, Veterans assistance, Workman’s Compensation, Auto Insurance Claims, Non-Profit Funding, AAA1B in Michigan. Does Medicare cover Private Duty Care?

Medicare only covers skilled care, which includes Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Nursing Care, and a Social Worker. We work with the premier Medicare providers in the area, and will refer them to you if necessary.

Do I need a physician's authorization or referral to use your services?

No. You don’t need pre-authorization, pre-qualification, certification or even a prescription for at-home health care services with Friends of the Family. You choose the services you want, when to start those services and how often those services are used.
